I bought this elongated oversized PP in 1993 and since, forgotten its code or reference, can fellow members identify this piece? Manual winding in 18k gold, wind it up and goes silently again. 24 years on the same luster and shine, simply PP quality... Th...  

it is the 5009J. You will not believe it but at home, I actually have the Patek catalogue in hard cover from 1993 so I shall check it later.

I checked with HK PP service center, it is a 5009 (YG).

Gondolo Pateks tend to not hold their value well sothey represent terribly good value for money. Yours even has the gold bracelet which may not be to some people's taste but the links are intricate and it looks comfortable so you are on to a winner!

as long as the watch is working fine that you do not have to service a watch. I do not subscribe to the 3 to 5 year recommended service rule. If depends on how the owner treats his watches and you seem to keep your watch well just like I do mine. Wishing ...
