I just happened to be at the ceremonial dinner between the owners (5970J transferred from one to another) and had a rare opportunity to see 5970J and 5971P side by side. I just couldn't pick which.... I would be happy with either one But for day business,...  

picture is my favorite one. The 5970J looks perfect on that wrist, in that combination and proofs good taste by the owner. But who is the smart boy taking pictures, shown in the window :-) Cheers, Oliver PS: Converting is not that bad ... and it does not ...

I did notice that the day/date seemed current for the 5970J, but that may just be because the 5971P was operating on a different plane altogether! :)

... the owner of 5971P has too many watches and he doesn't adjust the date, but only the time, when he chooses the watch of the day, while the new owner of 5970J has been using it for a few days and LOVE to wear almost everyday and all are adjusted as it ... 

to have a beautiful perpetual calendar chrono and only set the time. two beautiful watches. thank you for sharing.

you put up a great post ! Henceforth, please allow me to address you as "Sniper". You have quietly gone round and "BANG!". Diamonds are certainly for the new age Men ! What a way to improve on an 5970 ! Would not have seen the watch if not for your post. ...

The 5970's are one of my favorites. Loved reading your post on this classic reference. The 5971 is a little too much bling--but that's my personal impression. It is a fantastic and rare piece. Lucky guy who owns one of them.

... and you would get used to 5971 as I have - seen it so many times (at least two of my friends own it) and am now thinking it might not be so bad, depending on the occasion :-) Thank you! Ken

Like I said in another reply, 5971P and Datograph Baguette bezel and Lange 1 Darth Baguette bezel are only exceptions for me... :-) I own none of them, FYI! Ken

... it is always fun to have those drooly watches on the table at the restaurant private room while the waiters/waitresses make their eyes rolling.... We always tell them that "oh, they are all fake and cost just USD30, so don't mind them" :-) They always... 

If and when we have dinner, perhaps you and I can put our 3970s *my J and your P) side by side for a set of similar pics :) 3970J - the classic! ...

It may be me but I think the diamond bezel on the 5971 looks pretty awful. Its just too busy and out of proportion. I liked the diamond bezel on the 5127 far better. Here, the clear winner to me is the 5970J. Really stunning. I think the bezel may just di...

This 5970 is really one Chrono-QP that I love. Certainly my favorite, even if I like the Patrimony PT/Ardoise dial too. I remember I had a very strong position against non-in-house calibers when I started getting interested in watches. Today, things have ... 

.. but working on some projects daytime. Money may or may not come, but what goes around comes around, I believe, LOL :-) I would be happy with what I have and to be alive, and to make an average living. Thanks, Mark. Ken
