I agree about the size of the case
but I am less perturbed by the two holes at the side of the moonphase. More importantly is the fact that the 5270R has an in house movement which is visible in all its glory. Also, the dial has a beautiful vintage patina. I will not even mention the possible accuracy and reliability of the 5270R over the 2499. Then again, rarity usually rules!!

Agreed!
The 5970 seems to be the popular choice among the modern perpetual calendar chronographs. I like the patina on the 5270 but I love the size of the 3970 though not the height!!

But I guess we are comparing perpetual calendar chronographs so to bring a heavyweight like the 5204P which is a perpetual calendar split second chronograph might not quite be comparing like with like!
