Patek Philippe

I've always thought.......

I've always thought that the buyer gives Patek the detailed owner information when they choose to send in the filled out form that gets mailed back direct to Patek in the provided self-mailer. The form that has come with my watches, asks for all your current patek collection's movement and case numbers. I assume that someone at Patek is sorting throught this data and doing something with it (other than just mailing the magazine out).

I realize that dealers CAN fill out the watch certificate with a name and address of the purchaser, but I've never been able to defintively figure out if this data, when and if completed, gets formally transmitted back to Henri Stern (I'm a USA customer) or Patek Phillipe.

Based on the above, I THINK that if you buy a second hand watch or "grey" watch that was NEVER registered to Patek Phillipe (and still has the blank registration form and mailer), their historical records would end up reflecting that new owner's name.

This is all pure conjecture on my part and could be wrong. Just my opinion. Maybe someone with more knowledge can tell us for sure.........
