The Patek Philippe reference 3842 is largely overlooked. Yet I find it very beautiful, even gorgeous, especially the first example below.
The case measures 28 x 36 mm.

A/ PLATINUM
According to A.F.W. in a post from 2008, the small screw's function on the back cover isn't to secure it. When it is removed one can see another screwhead inside, very small, which is used to free the stem and crown from the case. Once the caseback is opened one can remove the movement. It cannot be removed from the case cover without removing the stem and crown first.

I don’t always love Breguet hands and numerals but here they look perfect.
I love the 3842 but
it is really challenging to wind this manual winding watch due to the position of the crown.
The first one would be my choice too.
But I prefer my watches to have seconds and if I'm going vintage, a bit more flare. Ref. 2517 ...

Yes indeed!
Most examples have the standard modern pin buckle, but some have an older one. I wonder if this reference was not produced before and after the introduction of the modern buckle. I would have to check that.

I love the combination of Breguet numerals and hands the most, but even the version with Roman numerals and leaf style hands is highly attractive....
I agree that the Roman numerals variant is nice too.
