Beautiful

Yours is such a beautiful and interesting watch. Please do let us know what the good people at Patek Philippe have to say regarding your concerns. There may not be anything wrong with the watch at all. I have had to send time pieces back to Patek a few times over the last 25 years. Ultimately, they put everything right and I went on to enjoy the watches for many years. It’s a hassle, but ultimately well worth the trouble.
The first Patek Philippe I owned was a 5056 ( annual calendar). Prior to the 5056 I had been wearing a Rolex GMT for ten years. The first time I watched the date change on my 5056 I was convinced that it was broken and that everything was terribly wrong. The date change on a 5056 took an hour or so to completely turn over whereas the date on my Rolex GMT clicked over immediately at about 12:01 Midnight. Someone finally explained to me that Patek Philippe had a very approach to watchmaking and that all was well.
I think my 3970 takes about an hour and a half to completely change the date, my 5320 takes at least an hour to completely turn over. Congratulations on having such a fantastic example of a Patek Philippe!

but I LOVE it. The case is gorgeous. The week counter and many hands on one central pinion are both really fun. And the handwriting font--really the best, because most unique part--just takes it over the top.
All is well..

The 5212A does not incorporate an instantaneous calendar change. I therefore do not see anything to indicate a problem. The watch seems to be exhibiting the expected behaviour of transitioning the calendar indications over a specified time window. To my k...

Yes I realised now the fact that the day change takes 1.5hour to complete is quite normal, but the date change at 11:53? I think that’s a bit off with Patek standard.
IMHO nothing to worry

Many watches exhibit similar behaviour. The change can commence slightly before 00:00 hours. So 22:53 is not abnormal, though 22:57 or higher would have been much better.
