Yes, “sideways” is unusual but definitely seems to help with the lovely lines and symmetry of the layout. Most 1578s I’ve seen have this, though interestingly some do seem to have the “upright” numbers. Not sure why the different approaches on the same reference, but that’s what makes it interesting!

Haven’t posted in some time, but just landed this beauty and couldn’t resist. Patek 1578 in pink gold, 35mm, and amazingly “born” in 1949 according to the Extract. Couldn’t be more pleased...they sure don’t make ‘em like they used to! ...
