I think this post could please some fellow purist Patek enthusiast ( Arthur, Roni etc )
Some months ago I had the luck to have two pink gold 2526 in hand (not mine, a Munich reseller)
I thank Mr Meertz for this great moment.
I am very sensitive to case diesign and in photo I loved the 2526, in real it is "worse" !
The case design is fantastic, and as classic as it is the 2526 is maybe THE most beautiful classic case I have ever seen.
The size (36mm) combiend with the lugs make it perfectly balanced. Proportions and balance, something which always go with Patek design.
To have comparison, a bit like some JLC Geomatic but more fluid, un bit like a Patek 5110 but more pure and simple. More complex than a Rolex Daydate I still love. The bezel "close" the dial without being exagereted, perfection.
The dial: one had the enamel dial (with the bracelet), the other one had an original silver dial.
The enamel dial is a beauty, shiny, classy, simple, fits perfectly this watch.
The silver is something very uncommon on this reference, it is normally always an enamel dial except on some rare platinum version (maybe white gold too but here I need expertise, I do not know exactly). It is also a silver dial on the 3428 which is basically the same as the 2526 with a 27-460 caliber instead of 12-600. Mr Meertz show me the paper proving the dial was original on this 2526.
The silver turn slightly green, a combination between green and silver, charming actually.
The caliber is maybe the most beautiful automatic ever made, there are a lot of info on the 12-600. Very advanced for its time and with a fantastic finish.
The "Gay Freres" bracelet is ... hmmm how can I say ... special but typical from this period.
I think it is a "C" bracelet .
This watch is a real marvel and is loved by every vintage Patek amateurs. Perfect in yellow gold, but this pink gold is so warm that this rare version have something more. I remember photos of arthur "arolex" of that same model de tailing every curves of it, now I understand why.
As many watch this is a watch which really has to be seen for real. Rarely a classic 3 hands watch has been so well done.
cheers
