Question about a dial face

 By: Baron - Mr Red : April 10th, 2017-05:00
Does anyone know what period Patek Philippe adopted this printing on the dial? Was it a period of time or maybe aimed within a specific geographic area? I am not sure. I have seen very few dials from the 1940-50s so suspect it is from the pre-1960 era.......

I have had look at some of my pieces but none of them say "fab suisse" Mainly swiss or nothing I suspect early 50\'s but wonder whether these dials were made for a specific market If I was at home I reckon John reardons book might have the answer Cheeers ...

I think it is early 50s....

.....and i do think it is correct...but I just haven't seen it before.

I saw a few in the 1937 to 1939 period

You can have a look at these references: In 1937: in some 499, not all versions, even the 533 Chronograph (chronographs don't have often a swiss mention at all) In 1938: in some 560, 565, 598, 556, the 591 Chronograph, 1420 In 1939: some 1435 Maybe the pi...

indeed....

......what is interesting to me is that i can see few, if any, in the early 1950s. But this watch is from the early 1950s. Further, I can see watches dating from before and after that do not have the same marking....which makes me think Julian is correct....

Indeed, as it seems to be a French requirement,

I think there are isolated examples stretching through the 1950s. Possibly watches that have been unsold for years.

Much appreciated [nt]
