The analogy
People from different regions have different views on comparing dogs with watches, even still from western countries, might have a different background, thus a different feeling on this analogy. Chinese men eat dogs and would not object but others might.
That's why we have these ongoing oppositions of view concerning this reference number (and other aesthetcial matters).
But that doesn't mean there is an absolute truth. Style standards evolve and the elegance imho is not always the same.
The 5054G is on my radar for quite sometimes. An underdog?
Personally I really like the dial and case design. At 36mm it wears perfectly on my wrist. Interesting enough for such dressy watch the G is actually working better than the R, IMHO. ...
I may be alone on this, but I really enjoy the asymmetry of the dial and functional set of complications.
As a collector, perhaps this isn't one of one, but a component of a broader set? I think it's very unique

Only down side
it needs a winding box. otherwise its fine. For a winding box, I want at least an annual calendar. But this watch is one of the best deals out and prices are starting to rise on it.
Great watch.
It was my first Patek , 5054J. I wore it daily for a decade. Incredibly accurate. Looks great in your wrist.
