A Patek Philippe a boat and a breeze of air!

 By: Dje : June 19th, 2010-15:00
You may remember that I quite recently asked you: "What watch with these ones?", the question being illustrated with the picture below. It was there: patek.watchprosite.com -0/ My intent was obvious, especially if you know my current temptation for a Pate...

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful !

Thank jou for this delicious post. Thinking about selling all my watches and buying a Riva. Yeah!

I am not amused....

 By: NoMilkToday : June 20th, 2010-01:28
Just came off a conversation with a Riva salesperson and learned: the girl is not included. My fantasy is shot to peaces. I will live on without boat an with present girl and watches

Sure

Hi, But the girl/boy (keep the convenient) order sheet is delivered with the boat. Still take care you just get disposable toys with these order sheets.... Cheers Dje

Go for it!

 By: Dje : June 22nd, 2010-13:42
Hi, Go for it, sell them all, but take care, vintage Riva runabouts are on the rise like for some watch brand I don't recall And service costs are, well, .....serious! Cheers Dje

Thanks so much for puting this great post together............

Two of my favorite things.....Watches and boats..... A perfect pairing Riva and Patek Philippe....... Great photographs BTW..... M.

For the Swan 90......5960p would be my choice.....

 By: Miles151 : June 20th, 2010-01:22
As I would need an auto watch which will keep me informed as to what day, date, and month it was as well as if it was Am or Pm a 12 hour chrono.... oh and the time would be useful also The 5960p would look great on a wrist aboard that wonderful yacht........

Good choice....

 By: MiniCooper : June 20th, 2010-04:06
However, which dial would you prefer? Blue or pewter? Cheers

Miles, I understand your reasoning.............

 By: Topcat30093 : June 22nd, 2010-02:19
But I would hate to fall overboard, wearing either a 5960 or 70P!! Think of the misery that would bring. I think that I would have to wrap them up in a watertight case!! LOL Thanks Jerome for a lovely thread and gorgeous photos.

Wonderful post Dje...I love it!

Hi, If I could afford any of these boats, and specially if I could afford a Swan 90, I would probably own a 5711/1A, a 5980/1A, a 5167R, a 5196P, a 5098R, a 5146G, a 5205G, a 5170J, a 5070P, a 5131G, a 5140P, a 5970P, a 3939R, a 5074P, a 5959P, a 5150A, a...

Gorgeous photos of watches and boats (a nice change from automobiles). For some time, I had already been thinking about something you wrote in your post: "That's where the difference between boats and watches is though. Large boats are more exceptional, e...

Hi respo, Sure there are other fields in horology, like chronometry for instance, but as modern watches can easily be precise, size remains essential. Watches can also be reliable, but even some Rolex watches sometimes don't work. Large watches for the sa...

Nothing's missing here except for the right company to enjoy life with and a nice bottle of champagne. RIVA stands for the comfortable stylish boat, a fairly fast convertible boat for the times you are just trying to enjoy some pleasure cruising. It's lik...

Thankyou so much Dje for putting this great post together. On the Rivas and the PP, I believe you need to see them, touch them, feel them in the flesh to truly understand what it is all about Cheers Hans

If I had to associate a Patek watch to a Riva Boat

 By: amanico : June 21st, 2010-14:03
It wouldn't be, like on the ad, the 5712, but the World Time. Why? Because both share this timeless beauty, this elegance which will stay stuck in our minds for an eternity. Both share this idea of a trip, and a great one. Both share this feeling of perfe...

Which would be fitting, as Atmos designer Marc Newson is doing an LE Aquarama. :-)

 By: boa2 : June 21st, 2010-15:07
I definitely see the 5711/1A or 5980/1A on a power boat, but for some unknown reason I see a 3940 on a sailboat. Wonderful post! I wish I was on the water now.

Please post some pics. That sounds heavenly!

Hi Nico, You've been very inspired in your description of the Worldtime (and the Riva too) : timeless beauty, idea of trip and so on... Best, Didier. @ Dje great post, great pictures ! Thanks.

Fantastic report, Dje!
