Ref 3800 a polarising reference - love or loathe

The ref 3800 is a bit of a red headed step child- its not the ref 3700 (grandpa) or the ref 5711 (hot young thing ) Why is this ? Well for a start its size - 37.5mm Some may say this is too small for a sports watch . . well let me counter the ultimate spo...  

Thanks for a thought-provoking post Julian, and for making a good case for this beautiful and less hyped Nautilus version...I have several friends (mainly with smaller wrists) who own and greatly enjoy a 3800, with good reason IMO! ;-) Cheers.

Yup, I think this watch is truly unloved for all the wrong reasons. A lot of people feel it is too small but if you are used o wearing vintage , the size is perfect.

also because it has a date window matching with the dial colour. This looks really great for me. I can’t live with a (standard) white date window on a dark dial since IMHO this ruins the whole design of the dial. I think this 37mm case fits your wrist per...

Me too. Not that I ever had the chance to get a 5711 - actually not true . Got offered on with white dial about a year ago and passed

I agree 100%. I cut loose a 5726 a while back and don't miss it. (If I only knew) I own a 3800 and I think it is "THE" Nautilus.

I think it is a great reference and looks awesome on you. I have a small wrist as well snd even though I wear the more modern and larger references, I really think the 3800 reference and 5800 reference would also look great for my wrist size 👍

And as you say, if you have a small wrist. For your wrist size it’s obviously perfect. People are sometimes to fixated on certain references as “the right one to own”. Huge congratulations, J! It’s a wonderful watch.
