Patek 5035 took 26 weeks 2nd time around vs. nearly 36 months the first time!
Aug 30, 2017,13:01 PM
My Patek 5035 took 9 months to get back the first time around from Henri Stern. They claimed it was due to the move. But when i got it, it had flakes on the dial.. well apparently some of the luminova flaked off onto the dial. I was upset that they didn't somehow catch this, but held it in because who knows how long that would take???
The 2nd go around recently took 26 months, when I called Henri Stern they claimed that they were just inundated w/ repairs. This time it came back perfect and couldn't be happier since.
But on that note, here is what I am really frustrated with. I believe the last time I checked they only have 19 watch makers.. when i did the calculation on the thousands of watches that comes in a year for service, turned out that each watch maker had to fix 10 pieces a day! What a Patek representative told me is that during the economic boom, people went ape sh*t and bought Pateks like mad men. Now, fast forward 10 years later, all those pieces are coming home to roost. If that's the case, I really wish somehow that Patek would have staffed, or able to staff up for these kind of things.
Honestly, because of super long wait of service, I picked up a 2nd Patek to get me through the rough times. I think something is seriously wrong with me.

Much better PP service experience with my 5550 !!
By: jimjenkins : August 29th, 2017-11:44
I wanted to share a good service experience with my PP 5550. It took only 4.5 months to get it back. Almost half the time compared to the service time for my 5140G few years ago. Not sure if this is due to the fact that 5550 is AR or that it was still und...

For the perceived good service received compared to your last experience, I cannot help but think that we as a community have been conditioned to accept outrageously long service time from our beloved manufactures. I don't think we would feel the same way...
You're right to remain as objective as possible
By: Mark in Paris : August 30th, 2017-07:57
This is I think a good way to go in life whatever the subject is. Yes, I think that we've been used with luxury brands to have too long servicing periods in general (not only Patek as you have emphasized). However, I would add, in addition, a few remarks ...
Thank youyou Mark, I agree fully

Especially the points on the lead time needed on the administrative and logistical items associated with watch servicing. Also yes some manufactures do invest in New buildings and equipment but I reckon more for ramping up production capacities than for s...

Hi Jim, I was complaining of the power reserve
By: benzng : August 30th, 2017-16:15
If I remove the watch, the reserve should be 72 hours and i was not getting it. I did not bought it at an AD so I thought might as well have everything checked before the warranty runs out. Everything went ok, I was instructed to wind the watch 30x before...

is given priority by PP. One of the reasons non warranty takes as long as it does.

and the most lovely thing was seeing a group of youngsters in training to become watchmakers. The delays are really frustrating but we have to bring into account that outside the traditional watchmaking regions of Europe this just isn't a vocation young p...
