Patek Philippe

There are a lot of Patek that I really love. Among them 3940 is the one that I love to wear the most: small, thin, complicated and yet so simple… Here in yellow but I love all the versions....

The understated and modern 3940 G, or the mighty 5140 P, with its blue dial. I would have got one if only I didn't already own another watch with a Cal 240 inside, the WT, which would hurt my " golden rules " when it coms to PP watches: Never two watches ... 

Unfortunately I'm not strong enough to have rules: I tend to buy what I love. Sometime I have the same watch in three metals… When I’m in love with a watch I lose control!

I don't know why but 3940 looks somehow more readable than the new version 5140. My dream would be 3940P with the blue dial of 5140. That would be simply stunning. Best, Kari

A very practical watch to have. Becasue it is so thin and slim , it slots into your long sleeve shirts so effortlessly that u don't even know that u are wearing a Patek. Henry Hoe

Agree fully..................3940 (and 5140) are wonderful. No need to make a major statement....just classic, simple, thin elegance. And, I find them especially classic in the YG. Thanks for the photo!!

By far my favorite of the entire Patek range is the 3940 in yellow gold with the yellow gold dial.

I thought the gold dial is the Beyer version. What dial is this? It looks like a regular dial, probably earlier version or am I mistaken. Curious to know because I have always loved the beyer gold dial version and the original early 3940. *CL

Yes, that is a 3940 with a gold dial. That photo was taken in bright light on a sunny day in California. The gold can look washed-out in some light. That particular watch was purchased with a standard white or "Cream " dial. I had Patek in New York switch...

I have had that watch for about 3 years. Patek switched the dial for me only two and a half years ago. I bet they would still provide that service. They made many, many of the 3940 in yellow gold. To them, switching the dials did not seem like any big dea... 

The 2 watches you shown are different watches. So which one is yours? The one you showed first has a different indicators than the one you showed later. *CL

Hi, The second photo of the 3940 gold dial is one I found online. I used it to illustrate how the gold dial can appear much darker gold or more of a beige "champagne" color depending on the light in wich it is seen. Sorry for the confusion. Philippe Stern...  

Here is a photo of Beyer #6. It was made is rose gold with a "Cognac" dial. I have not seen the watch in person. I think it looks great, and would love to have that watch in those colors. Patek told me that dial is not available. Beyer 3940 #6,...

this was my first Patek, in wg. Bought it again in pt. Then, during what I call 'The Madness' period of about 2005-2009, I sold both along with many others that got away... This is one of the most pure and perfect Pateks ever made. I do not like the 5140 ... 

You are so right. This is the best watch from Patek ever made. I had a yg one and sold it years ago. Boy do I regret that.

It looks far better than the current 5140 case. And yes: it is one of the few Pateks that looks great in any metal, but best still in YG. The only grande complication on the market that is really wearable and possibly the most beautiful creation ever. Reg... 

Count - your taste is always impeccable. and you are right........the 3940 is more perfect than the 5140. It's symmetry and its smaller size make it a bit more perfect, for sure. But the 5140 still sings to many, including me. Can't think of any other new... 

Is possibly a bit "harsh" formulated . But I also see these watches as "fashion" items, casual watches. They are not classic watches, even if Patek is written on them. Strange actually how this could happen? I am sure that there is a shift in culture of p...
