I can make an argument that Patek is cleverly using the price of the 5970P as a kind of place marker for its replacement, which Patek will introduce perhaps this year or certainly the next. 

Regardless of when, the price of this next wonderwatch will inevitably be compared to the price of the outgoing wonderwatch.  By keeping the 5970P on the price list and giving it a price increase, the introductory price for the new in-house movement PC can be moved still higher, but still appear more "reasonable" than it would relative to the 5970 if the 5970P's price had remained stagnant. 

Would someone care to post what the  new price is of the 5970P, or if that is against the rules, PM me please?   A price list, if anyone has one would be really cool.

Why is the 5970p on the Feb 15 2011 PP price list?

I saw a copy of the Feb 15 2011 price list and the 5970p is still listed but with an 18% price increase from 2009. Wasn't this watch discontinued in 2010? I know it was on the price list for 2010 (same price as 2009) and it was explained to me that it was... 

Either there are some left to be delivered....

Hi, First solution: there are some to be delivered yet, even if it's said to be impossible to order now (but who can prove that?) Or: there are many taking the dust on some Ads shelves and they have to keep it on the list price so that they now at what pr...

the collecting community 'believes' what Patek says... example: if Patek says the 5970P is discontinued, it must mean there are no more on earth. Patek is notorious for 'creating' rarity, through marketing. Patek equals marketing. Patek sends contradictor... 

Well Patek has never said that it was discontinued!

I did ask my AD, but they told me that it is no longer available.... However they did not have an answer why it is stool on the price list.... I thought that maybe your contact at PP would be able to tell us why.... Just out of curiosity- 5970 is now only...

and am so glad I did it. It was the most I ever spent on a watch and even if it was available today at the newly stated price, I doubt that I could justify to myself the amounts being currently charged by PP. Maybe that is just me and it could be short-si...
