My 5970 did too because it was running fast.>>>>

I walked from my office in Manhattan about 14 blocks to the Henri Stern Agency, and they said they knew what the problem was and fixed it while I waited. Again, I'll take it in the bag. If something goes wrong, I'm a stones throw from PP here in Manhattan.

on supplying watches to customers in their sealed sleeves? I've heard it rumoured that AD's have been instructed to remove the watch and retain the sleeve. Collecting and taking my PP home still in it's sealed sleeve knowing that it was untouched by human...

to buy this watch.LOL Also since so many used watches are sold as new the bags are now supposed to be collected by the AD or so rumor has it. It's quite easy to reseal a bag once cut open. But the Chinese have now made plastic bags that are exact duplicat...

AD was/is selling watch in a plastic bag... I have been buying fine watches (not just PP) for many years and never came cross this until..... For me, I usually go to an AD, look for something that I like; try it on my wrist; wind it for a few turns; and s...

I too have been buying.............

By: Dave in Wales : March 13th, 2007-08:51
fine watches for many years, but I have never bought home the watch that I have tried on at the AD's. I always insist they get me a 'fresh' one from the distributor. IMHO watches in AD's windows are not for buying but just for looking at to see if I like ...

well same goes for me

I disagree...

I do not think that the ADs have to remove the seal. Their intention is a second quality control, they want to check the watch if everything is ok after the transport. If the watch is broken, it is better to return it to PP directly than to sell it! D.

With a watch of such a high caliber & reputation, shouldn’t>>>>

By: SteveS in NJ : March 13th, 2007-10:34
the "quality controll" be done by PP before it goes in the bag? When paying the prices paid for the Pateks I own, I prefer my wrist to be the first wrist it touches. I've seen some pretty bad handling of watches by watch store sales people over the years....

Does anyone know..

of any 5960P available at AD that is 'outside' of the sealed plastic wrap ?? I'll take it ================================= Sure it is nice to get one 'fresh'' and I'd prefer it that way to....BUT..... If the watch is new, without any scratches, at AD, wi...

Well.... it hits my pain part again....

 By: happy_wis : March 13th, 2007-16:24
My 5970 had to return to PP right out of the plastic bag... now, after the recent 28/2 -> 1/3 date change, it is doomed to go back again for some obvious mistake (again). Drawn from my very own experience, I have a very very strong feeling that they didn'...

Situation in Japan

 By: hatcho_bori : March 13th, 2007-21:38
i was told by my AD that patek japan "requires" ALL ADs to collect plastic bag, price tag, and carton box with seal. in 2006, patek japan ordered ADs to break seal BEFORE ADs hand over watches to their customers, but a few ADs didn't do so as their custom...

I have my plastic bag and all the tags but....

How do people flip a watch......warrnty is in their name

 By: mustu : March 14th, 2007-06:19
when the warrnty is in their name ?And why do they do it ? To make money for sure but like this ?

Yes, that's something I do not understand either.

 By: bourgogneboy : March 14th, 2007-06:57
When I bought my PPs, the AD always insisted that I filled in the warranty. Do any ADs agree to supply a PP with a blank warranty? If not, why the fear of flipping?

Easy...when selling

 By: asst_eng : March 14th, 2007-07:46
a watch, tear up the warranty get an extract from the archives and sell it. In some cases I've seen peoples names on warranties that came with sealed watches for sale on the grey market. When you take it in for service you have to pay if your name doesn't...

I don't think the service center check the name....

 By: happy_wis : March 14th, 2007-08:10
at least in my region. They will check only two things: you have the cert and the watch is still under warranty. I never heard of any people (here in my region) who need to show their ID in order to get the watch serviced for free (under warranty). To me,...

I would only buy from a Patek Store not even a AD

I would only buy my watches from a Patek store.I would not even buy a watch from a AD.

agree with happy_wis

 By: hatcho_bori : March 14th, 2007-14:47
in japan, AD does not necessarilly ask buyers to fill in the form with his/her real name. when buyer doesn't want real name on the certificate, then patek japan prvides the cert with "anonymous" in the owner's name section. grey dealers prefer those "anon...

What about when you pick the watch up...

 By: asst_eng : March 14th, 2007-20:55
from service. Do you mean to say that you can just walk in with a receipt and pick the watch up without showing some ID? What happens if you accidently lost the paper and someone found it on the street. You just lost your 3939H!!!! The no ID policy makes ...

Yes, the receipt *is* the watch.

 By: happy_wis : March 14th, 2007-22:24
Consider this.... if you lost the watch and someone found it on the street, do you think you actually lost it? If you lost the paper, then you effectively "lost" the watch. However, you can call them to let them know if you indeed lost it. In this case, t...

my apologies...

 By: asst_eng : March 15th, 2007-01:02
I fail to see your logic here. I'm very happy that the Patek service center in Singapore asks me for my ID when I pick up my watches from service. If anyone can walk into your service point and just show a receipt for a watch and walk out I would have res...

Gifts

 By: autowind : March 14th, 2007-19:01
If you purchase a PP as a gift, you would not want to put the name on the certificate becuase the person who recieves the gift might want to return it and exchange for another watch. So I don't see how they can insist on putting the name on the paperwork.

Ive seen some papers with...
