I also have misspelled buckle from the 1950's
I have a Patek Philippe watchband that was from a watch presented to a family friend in the 1950's. The 18K buckle on it has the name spelled "PATEK-PHILLIPE." I've not found any other reference to a misspelling except for the Howard Hughes watch. It appears to be the same style buckle as the Hughes watch. Anyone know anything about the history of this?

I believe John Reardon had some insight on this
issue regarding the buckle. If I remember it correctly, these were buckles made for the American market and the vendor did indeed misspell Philippe. The error was noticed and corrected but not before many were delivered.
