I really want a Chronometre Bleu at some point in my - my timing is very bad as i've just recently become obsessed. Are they ever going to be available again at retail for someone who has no prior FPJ purchases?

have you looked at the Chronometre Souverain? It is more easy to get and a superb FPJ watch.
been contemplating CS for sure!
the delta for a clean, platinum CS vs a grey market CB is just enough to make it difficult!

doubt it since a new CS has been in high demand along with the Elegante. I think it's definitely the effect of long waits for the CB. At that point might as well consider pre-owned for CB or CS [nt]

The math in your subject seems accurate but unfortunately a bit scary...assuming an optimistic waiting time of 5 years on SS Pateks with no prior purchase history...
...you should be able to buy your CB at retail in roughly 600 years from now..😇 I hope this Patek/CB analogy is flawed😉

It is unfortunate for you but that ship has now sailed.
There are some fantastic pieces in the CS line-up, some of which come close to the versatility of the CB in my opinion.

I had a CB back in 2013, and it was easy to buy....
...I’m sure your motives are pure, but I’m a tad skeptical of all these people who suddenly ‘need’ a 5711, Daytona, CB, AP RO....I wonder how much of it is down to a genuine desire and unfortunate timing, and how much of it is simply due to the fact that they’ve become difficult to obtain and everyone wants one so they can say they have one. I find it hard to believe that thousands of people have only just discovered these watches. When I see people willing to spend 80k on a 5711 or 40k on FPJ CB, it just strikes me as hollow.

If the CB were precisely in that same "look-at-me" category as the others you mention they would be going for 120K since there are so few made. I could literally take the 10K profits from my rolex hulk and bridge much of the gap between secondary and primary on a CB. I'm totally with you though!
