it's gonna be my girlfirend b/d this month. she loves cartier so i plan to buy a cartier watch for her. pls suggest a model for a gal cause i know almost nothing for a gal watch. my budget is around $8000. really thanks

There are quite a few interesting watches, like the Santos Demoiselles or the very feminine La Dona. Ideal for a warmer climate.
Both metal steel integrated bracelets and both could be worn as every day watch and look great
with a more formal dress, (if a watch is required)
But a lot depends what kinda woman your lady is.

especially from Cartier. Aside from what Geo suggested there are the classics like Santos, Tank and Pasha. It essentially boils down to a matter of taste, because the Cartier watches in that price range are similar in terms of finishing, movement and other tangible aspects.

Happy Bday to your gf, she's lucky to get a nice Cartier as a present!  Besides all the recommendations so far, maybe also consider stopping by your local AD/Boutique and see what they have in stock.  I have always found Cartier sales associates to be very helpful and knowledgeable about their products so I'm sure they can assist you in getting the perfect gift.
