I have personally changed the straps on my Tortue a couple of times and never wondered what material the screws are made of. I stopped changing my straps lately because when I asked the boutique for new screws, they insisted on taking my watch in (not for service but more for “observation”). I didn’t understand nor agree to why they needed to do that when all I wanted was to purchase a set of new screws.

You do not see that Tortue with the 8-day JLC movement very often! And it looks (and sounds) like you've been getting thorough enjoyment out of that wonderful watch!
I have the original (gold) screw bars in a little baggie now in the Cartier box, and I'm just using regular spring bars in it now. Should allow me to keep changing straps regularly while keeping the watch out of the grubby hands of the boutique!

Its a nightmare as the screws won't move and they are gold so i don't want to force it!

As you might see upthread, I left that to a professional, and now use a set of regular spring bars in place of the gold screwed bars.

Will definitely replace them with spring bars when I find someone who can remove the bars. Many thanks
