Several years after its unveiling, the Emperador Moonphase remains for me one of the most beautiful Moonphase watches for several reasons:

- there isn't any date display and I love the watches which replace this useful complication by the most poetic one...
- the absence of a second hand creates a very peaceful atmosphere: the Emperador Moonphase is a s-l-o-w and quiet watch
- the Moonphase display is very large, the whole watch seems to be built around it
- we really feel to observe the surface of the Moon
- each piece is unique in a sense due to the creation process of this surface
- the watch is big... very big (46,5mm) but remains comfortable on the wrist. And the objective behind is to get the largest Moon.  With a smaller case, I believe that the watch wouldn't have the same charm.
- automatic movement 860P is efficient and decorated with sobriety.

All these details, all these reasons make it very appealing and seducing. My fav version is by far the WG one, more discreet and whose colours are more coherent with the idea behind the watch in my point of view.

Difficult for me to give the watch back!

Like you, this watch really captures my imagination.  Piaget's technique for the creation of the moonphase display is so artistic, and does indeed remind one of the moon's surface.  It's such an elegant watch! 

This piece is definitely on my wish list for when I win the lotto!

colours on the White Gold version is the best fit with the silvery Moon.

The current Mrs MTF does not like cushion-shape watches so I have been veto-ed many times.  The problem is that Piaget's best watches are in Emperador Coussin cases - perpetual calendar, automatic tourbillon, moon phase........

 

 

The Piaget ONLY Watch 2009 was a moonphase design. It had a striking rose gold case and blue dial motif because it celebrated 40th anniversary of "one small step for a man" and a "leap" forward for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy charity.

The irony of disease sufferers not really able to leap was not lost.

 

The 'blue marble' that is the view of Earth from Space reminds us that we have ONLY one home planet and have to look after our own..........
