I paid the Piaget boutique a visit today to take a hands on look at the Altiplano 38mm. The very kind and accomodating staff then kindly suggested I take a look at the Atiplano Squelette for something a bit more interesting but still dressy.
Wow! That was the first impression for me. Although it is 40mm in size, maybe because the visual focus is on the skeletonized movement, it wears smaller than 40mm if that makes sense.
Its still early days for me for a dress watch but I've toyed around with getting one every now and then. The downside, I'm also told its a boutique exclusive which means that the moderated final price is very much more than desired.
In any case, I've attched some pics from the net to share what I mean and pictures do it so much more justice than I.
The piece that I held is a tad different than the attached image in that it had black hands and the radiating lines did not match up as well as in the image (maybe photoshoped?). I also find that the finishing is not as refined as it can be. The anglage is near non existent (perhaps intended?)and the beveling is also a tad raw. But even then, there was a tingling as I view the Squelette on my wrist in a mirror.
Perhaps when I am ready and if it becomes a non-boutique exclusive where the final price can be further moderated.
Enjoy.
wmclarenf1,
The hands on that piece can look grey or black as seen in these shots on the same wrist from our PuristS on Tour visit to the manufacture in 2008. It depends on the angle of reflection for that 'black-finish'. The photos were taken by the Woo brothers, as watermarked, but I don't remember whose wrist it was
It is NOT strictly-speaking a "skeletonised" movement as that is a different technique of metal removal and decoration. This is meant to be a modern interpretation of open-work in a 'Tech' style that the haute horlogerie houses in the Richemont Group seem to be trying e.g. Cartier, Piaget and JLC to start with a few....
Alas, when Piaget states it is a boutique-unique edition, they will honour their word. So, it is unlikely to cease to be so, if you have set your heart on this piece......Time -- is of the Essence.

This was the one piece at the PuristS' Visit that gained 12 votes out of 16 PuristS present as the 'base' for any hypothetical future Piaget PuristS Edition.........

If it is to be, it will be I guess.
but I did hint that "he who hesitates....."
Ask about other boutiques' stock because that is how they found me the last piece of another model from another continent.
Good luck,

are variable across different models and not a blanket 8%.
This particular model may move only 3%.
As per PuristS tradition, we don't discuss actual prices but people should know that a generic small increase may be imminent.
