A few weeks ago, I had the chance to see the PG Polo Chronograph.

To be honest with you, it's not my fav version of the Polo because I prefer it with a more discrete metal due to the strong and powerful design of the case.

But if you look for a gold and sportive watch with an original in-house caliber, this Polo Chronograph is a watch you should consider.

For me, the key points of the watch are the caliber 880P and the case.

The caliber 880P is a column-wheel caliber with a twin barrels system which gives a power reserve of 50 hours. The chronograph has the flyback function and the watch also features a date window and a second time-zone indicator. Maybe some would have prefered an hour counter rather than this second timezone indicator.

The finishings of the case are excellent and its design is very original. It gives a strong presence to the watch when we wear it. The dial is well balanced with large indexes and subdials. Maybe we should have prefered a different color for the second timezone hand in order to differenciate it from the other subdials. But the watch is classier  as it is.

This PG Polo Chronograph was a good surprise for me thanks to its finishings and the features of the caliber 880P. The Polo collection is not my fav one from Piaget but I found this watch quite attractive.

I have to admit that the Polo is my favorite line from Piaget. If I would not have had already a Polo, this chrono would be very high on my wish list. As you are pointing out, the finishing on these Polo cases is quite exceptional and also shows why Piaget is one of the most famous jewelry companies.

I may agree that there is a lot of gold on this model but hey!........ that was the raison d'être of a Piaget Polo before 2009, when they produced only precious metal cases as 'policy'.  Of course, the new Polo FortyFive changed that as they are available in 'precious' titanium    and with combined rubber/metal straps.

 

 

 

 

The nice thing about this regular Polo Chronograph (Pink Gold Ref G0A32039) that our friend posted, is that the dial is uncluttered.  The same functions of fly-back chronograph and 2nd time zone sub-dial but no need for public announcements in words on the dial like that found on the newer model.  Is that because newbie watch enthusiasts attracted to the newer sportier titanium models need help identifying the sub-dials? hehehe.....

I really like the new Polo Chronograph and waiting to see one in person.  I agree with you that it would look much nicer without the writing on the subdials.  And I wish they would just show one single date, as I'm able to determine what is before and after
