How captivating is a glossy dial when the light is good, while living in our eternally grey towns, you feel more than you see...

Almost all the pics I took of my 5508 needed the help of a flash, so it was time to submit this beauty to its natural environment.

Well, Natural, not always, as I still wonder what the Hell this Submariner is doing on a roof...

The Submariner 5508 is, in my opinion an d according to my tastes, one of the most elegant Vintage Diving watch, with the Omega Seamaster CK 2913 and the JLC Deep Sea Alarm.

The magic of the patina of the dial compensates the frustration to not use it for what it was made, diving or swimming with it, as per its lack of water resistance.

But this aesthetical pleasure is so enchanting that this is a great Holiday companion.

Some would hesitate to wear this beauty let alone subject it to the elements.

Like I told you, I am trying my very best to avoid the vintage bacteria. Again this week I took a new injection agains this virus but still, one vintage is bothering my mind 24/7. I will post a short story next week about my counter actions.

The lack of crownguards and date give the watch a completely different look versus the current Sub, or even many other popular vintage Subs.

Great holiday shots, as usual!  I feel that one of these days I will succumb to the allure of Rolex.  I'm just not sure if modern or vintage will be my flavor.

That is a " Shakesperian " question...



I wouldn't say that one is cooler than the other, as they are very different Subs, and as I also found some very appealing crownguard Subs.

The more you dig, the more you're embarassed, but you know this phenomenon.

I'd just say that the lack of crownguards gives a lot of elegance to these watches.

Same terrific observation about the GMTs...



Modern or Vintage?

That is another serious dilemma, for a first Rolex.

My guess is that you will end with both!
