It was the same when the DSSD was first introduced. I recall the ADs quoted a few grands above list. Even for the D-blue, is it really at US$3-400 above the existing model?
Since it is regular production model, I would say be patient and not chase after it. I got my DSSD only in 2012 .
Kee, firstly I am not angry but disgusted. Secondly I wanted to share this experience and hear alternative views which I have so, its been successful in what the primary objective was by posting. Cheers J

I too am looking to get the Daytona and I am not paying the additional premium. Was at the dealers the other day admiring the beauty...unfortunate is a see no buy sort of thingy.
Worse part was that it wasn't reserved for anyone but just waiting to go to the highest bidder. Checked if they will sell the old models at list price...but no way. Still commanding a premium.
I can only assume it isn't uncommon over where you are..?? Here in England it is very strict....in fact on the opposite side if a Rolex dealer is found to be offering a discount they will get warned and then loose the contract. Even I don't get a discount on Rolex, but I can on anything else.! Dealers are also only meant to be selling these new Daytonas to customers who are known to them and have previously bought at least 1 other Rolex from them or they won't even take your details. I picked up my Daytona a few weeks ago but would never even consider it if the price was hiked up. Fingers crossed you can finally recieve one somewhere. Yours, Andy.
Hiya, Unfortunately the same is not true where I live. The dealers are just asking for ridiculous premiums. If your willing to pay, you can get a piece. I find this practice repulsive. I will wait and let the market cool before I dip my toe in. For now I have enough pieces to keep me busy. Cheers J
