Portuguese Tourbillon Mystère Squelette Ref. IW5043
This watch preserves time. The new Portuguese Tourbillon Mystère Squelette from IWC Schaffhausen is a generously dimensioned, precision mechanical masterpiece, whose origins can be traced back to centuries past. The movement combines the pinnacle of watchmaking, the tourbillon, with the traditional craftsman’s arts of skeletonising, engine-turning and engraving. It is housed in a classic Portuguese case. Watch lovers have the choice between platinum, rose gold and white gold, in each of which only 50 examples of this exclusive watch will be manufactured.

I own their skeletonize version of MR,to me its beautifull as it is hard to find a repeater that conquer both world sounds and looks. And above all, with a very resonable price if you consider repeaters in general.
Ok,come back to this tourbi skeletonize piece, from the pictures i would say the engraving of the dial simply too massy with lots of flowers(as describe by graham)flowery dial tends to make time reading difficult but of course i would still say the final verdict is to look at the real watch it self and i am quite certain those who owns the repeaters just MIght be their potential clients/buyer for this piece. Therefore allowing them to own a pair of these beautiful squalette.Hmmm.....i think that includes me aswell...LOLOLO.need to be carefull if i see one.
Thanks,just my thoughts.

A truly fabulous watch.
Any dimensions? Wonder if it can fir my wrist.
i own one of his very special pieces and have looked at a lot of others and they all seem to have a similar trademark, no flowery engraving, very angular(is that the word i mean?) markings which i much prefer. i think they'll fly out of the dealers.

I too am an onwer of the IWC skeletal(s) and the MR skeletal.
The following are my opinions, and I may be wrong, but again..thsi is a forum i love. Please serach this forum for all previous articles I have written on IWC cal 5000 and also the skeletal MR from IWC. I am a great fan.
IMHO, the proper decision, and to make it worse, IWC did harp on it that the skeletals were done IWC style with IWC genetics in the MR.
The skeletals in the MR were doen in german silver, it enhances the history of the wtach services...that german silver is not easily opened by any shop..and this alone is very important for resale of any MR.
The skeletals in the MR removed excess metals to allow for more resonance, and it was a defensible engineering move versus a decorative one.
No flowers done on the MR, but neat geneva stripes to trap dust.
Rigidity of the plates were minimally compromised as the removed metals were done in perfectly cut lines, and not flowers etc.
In this tourby, not only do I suspect rigidity will be compromised, but the removal of excess metals were not focused as on the right parts to show the Cal 5000 beauty. There is too much compromise on IWC's values.
Meaning no flowers, and embellishments on the paltes...THIS watch, this tourby looks much more like a Chronoswiss..no insult to Chronoswiss or even some entry level brands from switzerland...early Maurice Lacroix and Paul Picot et al.
OK..one may defend it with a loupe, saying it is closer to Breguet type decor..but and but.
IWC owners who buy this will spend time defending their purchase than admiring it. Harsh words..but this is a forum for honesty and intergrity.
