Officine Panerai

A co-worker recently acquired a 289 and asked me to address the buckle screw which keeps working itself loose.  While I had it in hand to apply a smidgen of loctite I snapped a few photos.

Next to my wearer today:

The gold hands really pop off of the brown dial.

While I always prefer a solid caseback, there is no denying the open back is warranted to show off Panerai's beautiful P.2002/1 movement.   I still see the 233/289 as the ultimate "in-house" congruent Panerai.  Everything about it meshes properly.

Do you know if this is his first Panerai?  And is he into watches or did he just buy his PAM289 because he liked how it looks?

He also owns a 25 Submersible.

He is a collector but not a forum goer.  Amongst his others are a WG Daytona with meteorite dial, AP ss offshore, JLC RG Amvox chrono (probably my favorite of his pieces), several Cartier, and a few others.  I'll try to add photos as he rotates through his pieces.

I also did like the PAM 289, I think it is a nice piece to own. It is to me a great combo with its 8 days power reserve and GMT.
I bought 2 of those pieces, but that 'Panerai movement' killed it for me. 

Both watches proved unreliable, the second one, out of no where decided to simply stop, I returned it and it was away for its warranty repair for 4 months.  The first one, I am not of the type to be on time by the minute, that thing must have known it because it kept losing about 2 hours a day.
So yes great looking watch, but I learn to stay as far away as possible from it.  S A D

But, your jacket looks great ;-)

I have a few nice jackets in my closet, but none I prefer to my Iron Maiden Eddie military.  I'll get some other photos soon.
