Hi, this is my first post and first Omega, I saw it on ebay and fell in love. Don't have a lot of info on it, was wondering if anyone could help?

Was also wondering if it is possible to repair the dial, or if it would have to be replaced? Also I have seen that these used to be available with a metal lattice cover for the glass, and if anyone knew where i could find one?

Welcome to the forum and GREAT early Omega from the 1915-1918.  What you have is an early attempt to hermetically sealed case.  Having the movement mount on a swing ring and the movement is "front loaded" into the case.  Also notice how the crown tube is part of the swing out ring to keep moisture and dirt out.  The movement is a caliber  13"' SO quality B  ( min a day accuracy) .   The Omega case ref looks to be  AS 709 AD .

I picked this one up years ago with a white dial ( also has damage) my bezel is very worn but the case has done its job and the movement is still in great shape!!







How is your running ?   What type of strap are you going to put it on  ?

Thanks Bill. Its running very well after a couple of days teething problems. It started by gaining 3-4 mins an hour but after a couple of days it settled down, and after spending a day next to my radio controlled alarm clock, it had lost only 2 seconds in 24 hours...not sure what happened, but I'm very happy with it.

Rgarding the issue of "Le Strap", I'm not sure. It's currently got a horrible strap left from the guy that sold it to me, but I don't know where I could get a strap like yours for it? Obviously would have to be in black I think though.

To tamper with such a nicely aged and patinated dial would be to spoil the watch for me. I think it is just fine left the way it is, in all its originality.
