Peter posted a photo of the 2599 and added some interesting insight about the dial manufacture.  I also posted a picture of my  new Vintage 45 Kingsize a couple threads below. 

I noticed that the 2599 and my 2593 (traded for the new version) have dials that are curved on the horizontal and vertical axis.  The dial on my new Kingsize appears like standard dials with a flat surface.

Did GP change dial suppliers, or is there an explanation for the difference in dials on some models in the same series?  The newer ones still have the recessed subdial feature, like the curved versions.  Just curious if anyone else noticed these differences.

GP´s dial supplier is no secret; a lot of dials are made by Metalem (which most prominent customer might be Philippe Dufour) and hands by Universo (where basically all high-end brands buy).

Now curved dials aren´t that easy to do, especially not with recessed sections.
Or multi-faceted dials, such as the R&D-01.

Different dials are in use for gold case and steel models; pieces in precious metals almost always come with more elaborate hands and dials.
That´s reflected by the higher price for the whole "package".

Always nice to learn something from your responses!  Anyway, when I also looked at the Vintage 45 Power reserve and new Triple calendar models... they too seemed to have a flat vs. curved dial.  Maybe GP made a change when they went to these case sizes for the Vintage series??

Hi Paul,

aside design, i believe the case/dial size to make a difference as well.
A visible curvature might add some height, which is a concern for central second models and those with wider movement (complications).
