Is it true that the L.U.C Pro One GMT is not a real GMT
A few days ago I was checking out the Chopard L.U.C Pro one GMT, and came across another forum and one of the members there said it was not a real GMT???. And the forth hand was used as a am/pm indicator? I've seen Chopard watches a few times but never the L.U.C Pro One GMT. Please fill me in here.
It depends on your definition of GMT
Chopard's GMT implementation of Pro One GMT is similar to the one from Rolex: 24 hour bezel and fixed hour hand. The second time zone is adjusted by rotating the bezel to a desired position. This kind of GMT may not be the most convenient for a travel watch, but I use it all the time at home to track the time of the second time zone. Some may argue that this design is "not real GMT", but remember that other "real" GMT implementations most of the time have extra time adjustment buttons (think UN GMT big date or GO Sport Evo GMT) which would compromise the watch's water resistance. So I guess Chopard had to make a choice and decided to preserve Pro One's DNA as a diving watch.

I don't know why Chopard decided to design the watch that way, but there are plenty of true-GMT watches with lots of water resistance--some even include chronographs that can be used at depth (JLC produces both GMT and chronographs and GMT/chronos with 1000m of WR).
It is much more likely that they didn't want to put the work into a proper GMT, with an independent hour hand and 24h indicator. Adding just the 24h hand is much, much simpler. IMHO, it's not useful, although I otherwise love the look of the watch. It also cannot be a diving watch any longer because it lacks the timing bezel.

The GMT hand is not independent but...
you can set a second time zone by spinning the 24-hr bezel. And the timepiece is beautiful in my opinion. Here is mine!
