It was rescued from its display case about 9 years ago yesterday!
I'll take a few more shots later tonight for you.
There was actually a limited edition with the exact same dial but had black lettering in the seconds sub dial (1927-1997) It also had engraving on the back with the serial number xxx/1000. It was reference # 16/8316.
I need to take a look at the paperwork which I have filed away somewhere to make sure this was produced in 1997 but in a regular production series.

The paperwork confirms that this is ref 8316 but perhaps there was a regular production series of the MM 1997 along side the limited edition jubilee model of 1000.

Yes, your beautiful 16/8316 ( LE 1,000 pcs in steel case) is for the celebration of the Mille Miglia 70th anniversary and also the 10th year, Chopard has sponsored the Mille Miglia.
I think not only that, 1997 is an important year for the L.U.C too.
The 1860 series with the magnificient Calibre 1.96 (double-stacked twin barrels, a shocker for that time) was premiered and won the the coveted " Watch Of The Year" too.
