Blancpain Aqua Lung Grand Date from 2005 ...
and with caliber 6950, which we just talked about in a recent post.
To me it is one of the nicest watches from Blancpain, ever.

Halleluja! The date is appropriate ...
and was judged by the most famous date critic ever. It´s even a grand date and it jumps in less than a second at midnight. Halleluja

Most of the dates don't appeal to me. It has to have something special.
A Grande Date, for example. Like this one.

I remember how I was shaking when a local AD phoned me...
to tell me that the rare original AquaLung (the one without the large date) just arrived at their shop. I went to inspect it, but as a graduate student - beyond my means.
I had a very difficult weekend afterwards ;-(

because I fall in love with it as well, back in 1999.
Only the (reasonable for today) price kept me away (first-time employee, you know) and I wanted to see a "white metal" rotor to make it even more perfect.
The latter was shown in the successor ... 2005.

Differences
I read from some site that Blancpain Grande Date does not have a full 100hrs of PR. Is it true ? Can someone witj Grande Date , pls verify ?
Once there was a Big Date - only ...
The ref. 2150 had a Big Date and 100h power reserve, but at midnight it took some time until the date changed. When Marc Hayek took over the responsibility he asked for more. The evolution(s) showed a Grand Date and the date switches immediately, but with 30h less power reserve. To me this is fine, because there are still 70h left and I prefer the Grand Date change in a second - it´s just so nice to look at

In practice, Oliver, the PR is more than 70h, its just that the instant date change...
requires more power than the slower one. Thus, to be on the safe side, Blancpain attest a lower PR although the movement likely run longer ;-).
