Calling all bumblebee owners
Hey guys,
Today, one of the most horrific things happened to me. I was taking a walk along a crowded street and wham! from the back came this violent push. I stumbled and as a result hit my bumblebee against a railing. Naturally I was furious. I took a quick turn to search for the culprit but he/she was long gone. My next reaction was to take a long glance at the watch. To my horror, it had a mark around the 11 o'clock area. I was in disarray. My fears were later confirmed when I stepped into a nearby shop with good lighting, there was indeed a mark/scratch on the bezel.
Fast-forward to when I got home. I would previously polish off any scratches by using my trusty cape cod cloth. However, I was well aware that the bezel on this watch was not gold/stainless steel. Ceramic, to my knowledge, cannot be polished by any household means. But being desperate, and not wanting to wait till Monday to bring it down to the AP service centre, I decided to give it a try. To my utter joy, the scratch came right off, it was a miracle unfolding right in front of my eyes. I pressed harder and polished more vigorously. A quick rinse under the tap revealed that the watch was once again in its immaculate condition.
This naturally left me puzzled. I can only speculate that the bezel picked off some of the paint/coating the metal railing had. What ever the case may be, I would like to praise AP for making, in my humble opinion, the MOST hardy watch ever. Countless knocks, careless actions and unfortunate incidents (read above) and my beloved bumblebee is still spotless and pristine. Was wondering if any of you guys share the same sentiments?

not with my Bumble Bee, but I have a few watches that use ceramics for either case or bezel or both -and it did happen with my IWC Top Gun Double when I literally ran into a wall and scraped the watch on it. Looking at the watch after the incident I was convinced that I had damaged the finish of the ceramics. When I was at home I used a pencil eraser to see if in fact the finish was damaged or if what I thought was a scratch was actually material from the wall - and to my luck it was the latter and some rubbing with the pencil eraser solved the issue entirely. When I wear my Bumble Bee I am much more concerned about dinging the forged carbon case, because that can actually happen quite easily and the only remedy for it is a case replacement.

APhas refined and improved the FCB technology. the older TA prob may have some permanent markings if similar happened. was it a round railing or a sharp/levelled edge?

I am happy that your Bumblebee survived the knock. Such moments are always panic ridden. I am also glad to hear that the ceramics portion of the case is durable enough to take such knocks without damage, especially as I am considering my first Offshore, and one with a ceramics bezel as well.

As I was reading your post, I thought you were going to give us bad news about your Bumblebee. Thank god the bezel wasn't scratched!
