.. guess, one cannot really put these two into the same pot,
somehow like apples vs pears !
On my personal level, by having both ( plus the TT DSA-US, in addition),
it cannot be the same decision
and if you even take , let's say the TT Polaris '68, you have 3-4 lines of TT's,
- Each group having their special appeal, but also their DNA & historical context.
1/ To me, the TT DSA is more tool, with the DNA to a historical Diving watch, without
having all the robust diving-related features, than eg. a Rolex Sea Dweller or modern Submariner.
- The DSA is more a clear hommage to the development of diving watches, with beautiful
details. - Yet still, practically no-one will take it for diving, maybe not even for swimming..
Thus, she is a link between important JLC- horological contexts..
2/ the (TT) Geophysic - which I also happen to happily have - is a hommage
to a completely different idea:
She is between very dressy ( if needed), sober but sophisticated, elegant but casual as well, reminding
to her historical, importance to the Geophysical year, and the original Vintage Geophysic,
- although she will not and should not pretend to have the same role.
The hommage- element of the current Geophysic 1958 is much more sublte,
more refined, something very classy..
- A fine watch - a very fine watch . Not more, not less !
Thus, for me, there's not an either - or, but rather both for their specific context,
- and that could maybe change, from wearer to wearer, as well..
I would even say, let us be happy, for having such nice TT's,
Paying hommage, but not and never, attempting to replace or even compete
with their heritage role- models..
- Just my little 0,02 cents
Best, hs
