I remember making casual remarks on my wish for a new Reverso with calendar and moonphase functions a few times here and one time on the JLC facebook page before SIHH 2011.





One year later, my wish came true at the SIHH 2012. And nine months from then, my dream watch is finally delivered.

Forgive me for the overall blue tint of the pics. I was trying too hard in the post exposure stage to compensate for the yellow tint from the wallpaper and warm ambient light. I must admit to not being familiar with the white balance setting of my new camera also. I had a lot going against me you see.

With that said, I hope you enjoyed the new Grande Reverso Calendar. It is everything I wished for and I must say a big thank you to whoever made this happened. It is, in my view, a very well balanced piece in terms of aesthetics and sophistication at almost the right price. I said "almost" because its retail price is 20% higher than the Grande Reverso Duo which as you know offers no calendar and moonphase but two dials and two timezones. I'd have been happier with a 10% difference, for example, but still I believe the watch is worth it.

The watch arrived last week while I was away on a trip. Imagine the joy I had when turning on my cellphone upon arrival at home airport to receive a message of good news. I wanted to visit my AD the first day I was back but work got in the way and the collection had to wait until yesterday.

Let's see if SIHH 2013 will also bring us the refreshed Master Calendar. I can really use one more moon in my collection.

...then when it was delivered. Not that anything is wrong with the physical execution of the watch. One possible reason is that it is not my first Reverso and I have had the Master Moon previously. This new acquisition is merely a combination of form I already have and functions I have had owned. I'm not trying to be hard to please, of course!

It may be a lesser watch but at a fraction of the price of the 5170 it shouldn't be too bad a deal I believe.

I remember when this one came out: it was really attracting, especially because of the calendar poistionning and style.

It is a beautiful JLC and if I had to choose a Reverso it would probably be this one.

Watch looks great on your wrist and your macros shots are very good. Shows off the beauty of this watch .What new camera did you get and what macro lens ? You must be one of the first to receive this. Enjoy it Ruckdee.

It is a more affordable Nikon D7000 to replace my six years old D200 whose repair bills are killing me. Macro shots were taken with Nikon 105/2.8 I already had but did not use much.

the few pieces of SIHH 2012 that made me really curious.  The fact that JLC offers models in SS is in many ways a good thing, as it offers some value, as one cannot always splurge on gold.

I find the piece really interesting, and it is huge on my wish list. If fortunate, I will treat myself to this in SS next year. Please do post more photos.

- Are you going to use this as a daily wearer, or only for special occasions?

- I agree with you regarding JLC Master Collection - they need to zing it up a bit in terms of aesthetics, and then one will find it hard to choose. The current Master series models do nothing for me.

- Also, could you share few details of the clock on the left (not the Atmos)? Just curious.

But I am not in the financial position to buy any new gold watch. Besides, after doing the math, I concluded that the price for one rose gold Grande Reverso Calendar is roughly the same as one stainless steel Grande Reverso Calendar plus one stainless steel Master Memovox. The latter option appeals to me more but I am saving for the next Master Calendar.

Kpk, I am the work from home type with two very bad dogs as personal assistants so this watch will not see much wrist time. I will wind it every day, of course, to keep the calendar going, but will wear it only when I have to go out and meet my business contacts.

The clock on the left is a quartz piece whose origin I cannot really identify. My dad bought it 20+ years ago and he doesn't seem to remember where exactly either. The name on the dial says "Linden". Here's a better shot of it.



If anyone has more information on Linden or this particular clock in the middle, I will be most grateful.

...over the version in Gold. I find the version in Gold hard to justify myself, especially when the SS is so beautiful.

I find 70-80% of watch designs today (especially aesthetics) absolutely horrendous (I won't name those brands), and have no clue how the brands manage to sell them. Maybe its just my own tastes are just too different and old-fashioned (though I'm a young guy at 35). Your choice represents one of the few few charming timeless pieces, and it speaks volumes about your taste.

Love the Linden clock, and also love the Atmos.

I think initially the temptation is strong to wind everyday; but after a while, once a week should be fine.

While I do not yet have a JLC (my wife has a Reverso), I bought a VC Patrimony Traditionelle manual wind last year, and I can relate to your passion.

As they say, wear it in the best of health, and may it time happiest moments !

Most of my friends say I am a bit old fashioned and conservative beyond my years though. We seem to be in a very similar position.

As for variety in watch designs, I find many to be very curious but if they please a certain group of buyers then that's good for the people making and wearing them. Something for everyone, correct?

Until you posted this, I had forgotten about this new Reverso.  It is such lovely watch.  This is indeed a great addition to the Reverso lineup.  I love the display caseback as well.  It is a nice movement to see and it framed very well.

I feared that it was going to come out looking silly too with smaller movement. But the manufacture managed to frame it so perfectly that the appendage seems integrated as one with the mechanical heart in the center.
