RDM revamp design was phoned in?
It starts with the chamaeleonic, ‘soleil’ effect finish of the dial. This always creates involuntary glances from casual onlookers, it adopts a variety of different metallic colours depending on lighting. Once drawn in to the subtly shallow pie pan face, it’s the balance of the dial that amazes most. The position of the power reserve balanced with the date and small seconds is genius. The whimsical, irregular use and length of hour markers, numbers and dots, the echo of the dauphine hands in the hour markers, the sub-dial positions, all these elements conspire to balance the face and add to its charm without losing function. Somehow it’s simple and yet pleasingly complex simultaneously. You can understand how ‘right’ this design is simply by looking at the Zenith or Vacheron equivalents and now this revised version. It looks like an ItaeWon market street corner fake.
The former RDM is simply one of the most original, beautiful watches EVER made. Unfortunately, you have to see it to really understand it. The catalogue shots from JLC are particularly under whelming completely flattening the sunken sub-dials. My only wish was that it had a hinged caseback with an exhibition back.

And I totally suscribe to your words. By thge way, I couldn't choose nor write them better.
I also agree on the fact that this is a watch to see in the flesh to fully appreciate it.
A watch to feel, rather than simply seeing it on pics.
My opinion on the new iteration is worth nothing compared to the owners point of view.
If I wanted to say it better, I would write that I find it nice, but will it replace the former version in the heart of its owners, that, I don't know.
I can't answer to that, as I didn't own it.

one other minor difference on the RDM
The former RDM is 9.3 mm
At least it’s the info I got from many web different sources.
If the numbers are right, the diameter of the RDM MUT - compared with the former RDM - had increased 5.4%, while the thickness 5.9%.
These numbers would also make the thickness/diameter ratio of the former RDM slightly lower than of the MUT.

the author says 10.1mm height on the case, which is probably about right. but the new naming of nearly all new models with UT is, well......

nic, the economic uncertainty certainly brought sense ...
to a brand i used to admire.
they've done everything so well this year , in my opinion.
better presence doesn't mean "big", especially for a small wristed , like myself.
i see balance and well-proportions in the updates for the classic watches. the watches also look curvy in the offical pics, nice ! i am quite put off by brands omtiing anglage, i used to love to feel watches closing my eyes, that they do not prick me. and i did put down a jlc which i thought i like till i felt the sharp edges prick my fingers.
any the "specky" dial on the diver looks good.
jlc is definitely a brand i wish to re-visit this year.

I really like the Reverso calender
and the Duometre. I like the Duometre chronograph as well from the past few years. These are watches I could possibly afford, they are both unique in their own way (Reverso case, various movements for the Duometres), and they just look great. Thanks for the pictures.
