to think about
Man, that RG Tribute is nice. 11500 Eur is not a bad deal. Moreso the SS Tribute.
What can I say, another great move from JLC.
Great that you also showed us the Polaris tribute for perspective.
I like it that JLC is very careful with their tributes.
Thank you, Nico, for another great report.
Their 3 Tribute watches are, in my point of view, 3 great watches.
The Polaris was the pionner, then the 2 other " sisters " came this year.
With the TT 1931, things were not that " easy " than with the 2 others; as the size was very small, to re edit in with the same volumes.
The equatiuon was brilliantly solved, IMO, as even with bigger volumes, JLC mamaged to keep the faithful spirit of this iconic watch.
It was risky, they didn't fail.
Now, we can wonder what may be the Future for JLC Tribute watches... I'm preparing something about it...
Best,
Nicolas.
looking forward to it... maybe we can start with how JLC handled it, calling it "tribute" rather than "re-edition". a re-edition would've boxed them in pretty tight. tribute gives them leeway to play around... and sends us a subtle message that the original can never ever be duplicated... respect
also, how these tributes are handled are also a reflection of how the JLC management team is really closely involved and how they are really listening to their fans. Moreover, it also implies the level of class the organization has as a whole. Not too noisy. Restrained. And very comfortable with their history as a manufacture.
And the Reverso more like a Tribute, because on this last one, they played on the size of the case.
Well, they slightly played on the size of the DSA, too ( 1 mm more ), but it is hardly noticeable.
But they also kept in mind that the original is the original, and that " Tribute " was a more convenient word for these re issues.
We had, with JLC, a big discussion about that " appellation " when the Polaris was on to be re issued, and that was their state of mind, at this moment.
If they listen to their fans?
For sure, if not, the Polaris wouldn't have existed, nor the 2 other sisters.
There is a lot to say, I will prepare a post about that in the following weeks.
For the moment, I'm struggling with my 2 old computers to end the 2011 novelties...
Best,
Nicolas.
You have to try it, you will have a great moment!
