Hi, all.  I hope all is well for everyone going into the holiday season. 

I've come across a strange distinction in the Master Moon I purchased last year.  Can anyone pick it out?  Evidence is in both photos.  For those not prone to detail work, allow me to elaborate.  Every platinum Master Moon I've seen has had white backgrounds and red lettering in the date windows.  This one does not.  I happen to like the mono-tone look of this all-blue dial.  As well, every example I've seen has had a rose gold edged rotor.  This one is in platinum.  Note the "PT" marking.  I know that this is a series of 250 produced in 2001, but does anyone know why JLC might have produced this variation and for whom?

And pardon me if this version is not as unusual as I may think.  You know how we all believe our pieces are "special"!

Google " Master moon platinum ", you will see several with the blue date windows, like yours.

So it seems that both configurations exist.

It also features in your configuration, with the platinum oscillating weight, on the 2000 / 2001 JLC Catalog, page 179.

Why?

I don't really know, Ken.

Will try to ask to the Manufacture, but they look very busy, at this time, as the SIHH is approaching ...

The Mastermoon, and particularly this version (regardless of the variations you have cited), remains on my wish list.  I hope it is true that there ars some minor variations even in such a limited edition as this.  Those minor variations make collecting more interesting, albeit often frustrating, and they also make your example all the more special.

Thanks for the photos of the MM.  I think this might be the watch for which I would ultimately break my 38mm barrier. LOL.

Perhaps there was a "boutique" version, or one made for a specific market, or simply a first generation.  I would definitely recommend finding one.  The weight is amazing, and the blue monochrome dial is very nicely integrated in spite of all the windows and pointers.  Best, Ken

Highly desirable watch, for sure.

As well as the Master Geo, the Master Memo, and the Master RDM... The 4 aces, which are sublimated in their black series or in platinum.
