Bad news guys. Some of you might remember that I was planning to get the Grande GMT because it looks like the perfect watch for me (feature-wise).
But then on my previous trip, I actually tried it on in person and it didn't suit me at all. Not because it's too thick but it's because it looks rather thin on my wrist.
It's such a gorgeous watch in person, but unfortunately it doesn't look good on my wrist. I am very disappointed with this because it's the watch that I really like.
Oh well at least my wallet will thank me for that. Now it looks like I have to look for other watches, but I really like the idea of 8 days power reserve manual wind, and unfortunately the other 8 days are not really my taste. Well the IWC is nice but I don't really like IWC as a brand. I also don't like Panerai watches... looks like I have to forget the idea of having a week-long power reserve watch then...
On a side note during the trip, I got for my partner the Reverso, and it really looks very nice on her. Lucky her, not me, haha...
...and I have broken it 4 times with great success. And one watch that I tried on many times before buying, in the end did not work after getting it and wearing it for a while. Go figure. But I still think it is a very good rule to follow, if you are not me.

Is it the 8 days power reserve that’s important to you?
Otherwise if it’s a Reverso you are after but think the XGT case is to thin, you might consider the Reverso Squadra?
Most of the days when I wear the Rverso GMT if feels great!
But some days it really doesn’t feel right…
I wrote a post about it here some time ago.
Good luck hunting!
Please keep us posted how it turns out for you and congrats to your partner!

if dual time is what you're after?
The other watch I REALLY like is the Grande Duo-Date. It's significantly larger than the XGT series, and it is dual-time with a "True GMT" function (moves forwards or backwards through timezones AND date.

Happy hunting!Posts – maybe they will give you a hint if Squadra is the right direction for you?
The reversible beauty of the Reverso sizes...
The Reverso Squadra report 4 years after launch
Don’t get put off by my grading – I am very stingy when it comes to give stars…

Hi, from your post, I think you should try on Grand Reverso 986 new model.
It's a lot bigger than Grande GMT. Although it's reserve only around 40 hours on power, but I think it might suit you on it's dimension.
Good luck.
