hi, this is my first post and also would like to seek advice from you guys/gals. which do u think is better the jlc mastercompressor (ladies with leather strap)or the chopard happy sport chrono (limited to 3000 pcs/snowflake). i'm sure i would go with the chopard if it were not quartz. i like both designs especially the chopard's moving diamonds and snowflake but i think an automatic watch would have more value as years go by and i wouldn't have to worry about battery leakage and such.
any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't know very much the Chopard, but it seems that you already have the answer to your question.

You said it, and perfectly, you're more attracted to the Chopard, and the only issue is the Quartz movement.

But in the JLC, it is not 100% mechanical, as the movement is a mecaquartz.

If you want a 100% machanical Chrono movement, you may also consider the Master Compressor Chrono, which is 41, 5 mm big, but size may not necessary be an issue.

Indeed, Magali Metrailler, who is in charge of its design, wears it as a daily beater, and told me that it was her favourite watch!

The golden rule when you choose a watch is to go on the one which sings louder to you, never forget it!

thanks very much for your input. i actually forgot to mention that the specific jlc watch i'm referring to is the master compressor diving gmt lady. i wonder if this is mecaquartz(i still have to research about what type this is)? id probably think that you'd recommend the diving chrono, as this is the counterpart for the sport et collection (master compressor chrono)?

With a MecaQuartz movement, indeed.

If you mention the Master Compressor Diving GMT Lady, yes, it is an automatic movement, indeed, and a superb watch, to me, much more attractive than the Chopard.



But this one is 39mm, instead of its 38 mm stainless stell sister.

As for the Chrono, I didn't speak about the Diving Chrono, which is 44mm big, but the Master Compressor Chrono ( non diving ), which is 41,5mm big.

This one, the MCC 41,5mm, is the one Magali wears as a daily beater, and her wirst is not big at all!

  here are the photos of the watches ive tried. if ever i'm going to get jlc it would be with a leather strap. but i'm still torn between this and chopard. thanks again for your input.

wow, i think im sold just by this photo haha. which would stand better to everyday usage, a rubber strap or leather strap? im opting for something white so much use would either turn it to yellowish or blackish???

Not that the male JLC owners aren't lucky -- we are!  But I do sometimes envy the ladies their choices.  The ones pictured above for instance, or the Twinkling Diamonds (remember Kong's awesome post on the clandestine meeting to discover that watch?) or the astounding 101 movement placed inside some really beautiful pieces.

I bought my wife a JLC MC Chrono last year for her 40th and she loves loves loves it!  In fact she could never really understand my watch obession but she does now.  By coincidence I also considered the Chopard (which is a lovely watch), but the right choice was certainly the JLC for her.

I originally went with the stainless steel bracelet Lady GMT, which she really liked.  But when we went to the AD to size it she saw the Chrono with the white articulated rubber and feel in love!  So we swapped it out for that watch.  She gets mad compliments on the watch all of the time.  The rubber gives it a real sporty look but she can also use for dress.
