New for 2009
I know people are keen to know what is new for 2009.
I popped into my JL AD today and looked at a special catalogue dated 2008/2009.
This catalogue is referred to as the "175 years collection". And before I hear the jokes about Australia hearing about this stuff last, let me continue.
Amongst the goodies in this slim catalogue were the following (I was not allowed to take away a copy):
*Master repeater (collection 1833) Rose (pink) gold
*Master eight days perpetual SQ R gold
*Master grand tourbillon R gold
*Master ultra-thin
*Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2
*Reverso polofields (yuk! IMHO - see earlier post on this by me.)
*Squadra lady duetto
*Squadra lady
*Squadra lady Auto
*Memovox tribute to Polaris (Ltd 768 -- Nicolas, get in early)
*Amvox 3 Tourbillon GMT (wow!)
*Atmos Marqueterie (EXTRA WOW -- only 10 to be made)
Atmos Astonomique (Wonderful clock!)
The pieces that impressed me most were the:
Master Minute Repeater RRP $263, 000, limited edition of 175 (of course! This is an anniversary) in 18 ct pink gold (164 24 50)
Master Grand Tourbillon RRP $97,500, limited edition of 575 in 18 ct pink gold (166 24 50), and
Master Ultra Thin RRP $15,500, limited edition of 575 in pink gold (134 24 50 - folding clasp or 134 2550 - pin buckle)
The Memovox looks wonderful even to a Reverso nut like me.
If you like pink/rose gold, this is definitely the special JL for you!

The new watches were all presented at the last SIHH, in April 2008!
Some of them are just landing, now!
As the new MUTs, the Gyro II, for example.
Some will arrive in the very next weeks, as the Pola, and a lot of them before the end of this year.

the catalogue
Yes Nicholas, I believe some of these were announced in April. The catalogue was dated October 2008 and most of these, I was told would be available through order only. This 'large' AD had only one copy of the catalogue which makes it difficult to reflect on which one to order!
Having not had the good fortune to see the prototypes earlier in the year, the catalogue came as a great surprise. If anyone knows where they can get their hands on this catalogue, please let me know as I am desperate to get one of them. The unusual thing about this slimline catalogue is that it was mostly pictures, very little in the way of description. There was sheet with some of the descriptions that was gathered for a client -- hence the details of the cost etc. The latest (October 2008) International Watch has a nice article on the Gyro 2 (pp. 176-184).
