Hi everyone, hope that Wednesday has been good to ya'll.  I'm interested in your thoughts on something:  would you rather have a RG Reverso Art Deco or a platinum Reserve De Marche if the prices were almost exactly the same?

I ask because that is the situation I find myself in...I have an AD who has a new/old stock platinum reserve de march that he's parting with for roughly the same price as the art deco with exhibition back.  My thought is that the platinum is a beautiful watch with a great price and one that will hold it's value, but the stylings of the deco are also fabulous with the various guioches and and tooling on the movement. 

As always its personal preference I know but thoughts from the forum afficianados are always appreciated.  Thanks much, I'm looking forward to hearing from ya'll.  Be good.

as Nicolas mentionned, you have really 2 watches in one: one side very clean purely ART DECO and the other one with fine engravings and skeleton ART NOUVEAU. It is pretty unique. You just have to choose according to your feelings and wishes.

I think the reserve de marche is "nearly " the same, but without specific hand.

As you asked some days before, I checked with JLC the ref number of the Platinum Reverso RDM:

270 64 40...

I'm still waiting to get the ref of the platinum Sun Moon...

As for your initial question, I'd say that the Art Deco is more laborated than the RDM, and that you can play with the 2 wonderful faces of the Art deco, which is not possible with the RDM, as the Verso is a solid case back...

But the RDM ruthenium dial is a pure beauty...

At the end, I'd say ..Art Deco...

As for keeping their value in time, I'd say that the most important for a watch is to keep its time in time..LOL

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the RDM and Art Deco Reversos, I really appreciate it.  The RDM with its ruthium dial and silvered numbers on a shiny black alligator strap is outstanding.  The Art Deco in RG seems to really show the tooled movement even better than the WG version and I agree that its versatility is just too good.  In the end I think I'll end up with the RDM because I absolutely love the face and the contrast of the gray and silver against the black strap...it just seems so dressy and beautiful...and the weight, I love the feel of the watch on the wrist.

Perhaps an Art Deco next time out, or maybe I can track down one of the 125 editions of the Sun/Moon in platinum, or even better a Perpetual in RG...that would be something!  Thanks again everyone, speak to ya'll soon.  Best.
