hello everyone,
i am grateful to have found this link and hope someone can offer me advice for my 1st JLC purchase. i am indecisive between a chrono or a dualmatic, both to be stainless steel with leather strap. I wish to have something valuable and worthwhile investment. i understand that chrono looks cool but i am not a racer and who measure speed anyway? for dualmatic other than measuring 2 timezones i ain't know nothing further.
in terms of value and technology wise...which one do u think is a worthy investment?
hey thank you nicolas for your input, i have tried on both and that why i got into a difficult struggle with which one to get. you mentioned that chronograph series has a more complicated movement, u meant that its calibre751 is more complex than dualmatic calibre972? can you elaborate more please.
anyone out there who is already an owner of either of these 2 models care to shed some light on the pros and cons please.???
That in Horology, I learnt that recently, and it was a big surprise for me, but, to develop a Chronograph movement is even more difficult and complex than a Perpetual Calendar...
Yes, Le Chef is Right, the Dual Matic is discontinued, but I'd personnaly go for the Chronograph, for the reason said above...
Best.
Nicolas

The first one has a balanced dial, whilke the Dual Matic has a more complex, but maybe less balaced dial with all tese indications which cross each other...
But all this is very subjective, that's only my opinion, and you should not take care of it if this watch speaks to you.
Best.

for purely aesthetic reasons: I like the symmetry of the dial, the tachymeter bezel and the two pushers + crown.
I don't like the asymmetric dial of the dualmatic, the bezel and the third hand.
thank u all for your kind enthusiastic advice n opinion. it really gave me a better idea of what to look out for. Nicholas, special thx to u for your active response. Ya i have difficulty getting dualmatic...i live in jakarta, indonesia and i have booked both chrono n dualmatic to compare, yes i gotta book it cost its hard to lay your hands on it, alot of rich watch aficionado here...dualmatic cost usd 5500 and chrono cost usd7200. But since dualmatic is gonna be discontinued then it will make it more valuable, ain't it....
i also saw ur post on memovox...those are lovely watches, are they costly, i like them too
hey nicholas i am amazed by wat i saw here...soooooooo many nice JLC that i can't find in the website. now i am getting greedy, i want everything memovox, RDM. master compressor chronograph seems really inferior over here.
nicholas, i wanna ask how do u choose a watch and appreciate it except for the aesthetic reason. wat do u look out for and evaluate a watch
ok after going t hru all the discussion, i think i will go for MC chrono eventhou i already own a tag heuer carrera chrono.
i sort of like the memovox but its a difficult find is that watch very expensive also i cannot find MC memovox at teh ads posted in this website.
one thing i noticed i think i m the only one looking at JLC master compressor series. the rest of the gang seems to be more refined, looking at classy design...am i on the right track for my 1st JLC???
nic are u the facilitator of this forum i really admire your prompt response and knowledge depth. bac to JLc, i am actually looking for a dress watch or a watch tats notable for a JLC trademark but somehow this MC chrono seems to be versatile in a dinner function and also a daily wear.
would appreciate if u can recommend other model of the same price range of usd5000 -7500.
1/ Master Ultra Thin, in SS.
2/ Amvox I, like Jerome's one, in SS.
3/ Master Control.
4/ Master Home Time or Geographic, in SS.
5/ Master 8 Days, in SS.
6/ Reverso Grande Date, 8 Days Power Reserve.
7/ Reverso Grande Sun Moon, in SS.
But there are quite a lot other to choose.
Best.

Hi TKC,
I chose the JLC MC Chrono about a year ago and still love wearing it. It is a great watch and made even cooler with the JLC In- House 751 movement. One tiny problem is I want to wear it all the time so my other watches get left in the watch case unworn. I now make sure I rotate what I wear so the JLC MC Chrono gets a little time off and the other watches get worn.
My personal choice and two cents go to the MC Chrono, but you should pick what appeals best to you. All of the MC line from JLC are distinctive and have nice style in my opinion.
Good luck choosing,
Mark
dear friends,
thank you for being with me and guiding me thru. i went to the watch shop today, tried on most of the series and still fond of chrono and hence it shall be my choice. the watch should arrive about next week and i really can't wait for it now. going forward i will pursue more JLC watches.
Of cos picture is a must to share with my dear fellow friends here but u guys may have to wait a while cos i haven't lay my hands on it yet
is the calibre751 the 1st automatic chrono movement made by JLC ever? wow then i am really proud to own this pioneer creation.
i read from one of your post and u commented this:
JLC has always made his own movements, except, as Jerome said, for the chronographs...
But now, that's even true for chronograph.
They are very few to be able to claim such a competence, veeeery few.
This is a topic to think about and that will ask some work, but very interesting...
Best, Pana.
do you have anymore interesting insight on my 1st JLC. what else should i pride my baby with?
