Hi Riddler,
I've been digesting RM's collection these last months and I must say the RM035 is, imo, a perfect combination of RM's strenghs in that price section. The material, the high technics, the HL finishing, the size (not to big for me), the barrel shape case, the shock resistance (manual wind), alltogether wraped up in RM's innovative philosophy.
To be clear, I find in that selection only great watches, but when taking into account every details, the RM035 comes out finally, quite clearly to me.
I love the RM033's design together with the case's angles polishing, the twisted lugs perfectly integrated in the case, added with the flat mouvement and the micro-rotor. But I would consider choosing a single RM whith picking a barrel shaped case. Maybe what I don't like that much about this 033 is the dial's aesthetics (even if the arab numerals version is nicer).
I'm disapointed about the RM029, not enough skeletonized and not as good looking as others around the oversize date area. I would prefer possessing a RM010.
The RM030 is the one that would challenge the RM035's first place, in my heart: very deep movement (especially from the caseback view), beautifully skeletonized (better than RM010 from my point of view), and very interesting (and unusual) declutchable rotor (I really like automatic wind movement). I saw it in Ti and (as for all RM cases) I LOVE the work on these cases (It's a really personnal feeling but I would never consider a gold RM).
Finally, concerning the RM055, I don't know what to think. First, because I never saw it in the flesh, and I consider this is fundamental when judging a timepiece. But I would consider an RM as an everyday wear and thus I don't know if the size or the white color (more difficult to keep clean) is something I would go for in this watch. Furthermore I understand that a part of the case has a rubber coating and I wonder if it we last.
Interesting poll Ridler but you didn't share your opinion, what's yours ?
Best,
Mark

I am going for the RM055!! And I thought the white watch did not look good when I first saw it!! HA!
Love the RM055 these days. Fab watch.

RM055 all the way....the killer blow for me to the 35 is the solid back...the transparency of the 55 is pure essence of RM ...12 & 9 live on. I may have thought differantly if the 35 had a see through back ....
Well, I must say that I really like the fantastic view through their case back, especially the rotor moves. But, concerning the RM035, in spite of the fact it was an issue for me too when it was launched last year, it is not one any more. For 2 main reasons :
1. The RM035 is a real sport watch (from RM collection) as there is no rotor (more subject to move hardly during shocks) and with a "simpler" movement, decreasing the troubleshooting risks. In this context, the plain case back is coherent as it is more reliable than a sapphire window.
2. The watch is all black and when looking at the movement from the front, the black background gives a very profound and nice looking contrast to the caliber: it is dark and seems much deeper. I don't think, that the sapphire case back would make me feel the same from what I saw on other models, if it was applied on this watch.
But I can fully understand that it can be a significant issue for a RM buyer.
I’m surprised that no one has chosen RM’s best seller the RM011 yet, unless the OP only wanted us to pick from his limited list. I was thinking that this topic was for barebone time only RMs as in no other features other than basic time, but I see the RM010 listed numerous times and it includes a date feature. A chronograph measures time, so that piece should be a candidate as well.
My favorites that are realistically obtainable
in my lifetime, in descending order:
RM004 v2 Ti
RM011 Ti
RM010 Ti
RM010 WG
Favorite cost no object, descending order:
RM056
RM038
RM035 (can’t justify price for what weighs as much as a plastic toy and needs
see through crystal on reverse, although case size, straps, and overall design are
show stopping.)
RM039
as the 11 is not just a chrono but also an annual calendar and thus not included
also the 004 is a ratrrapant split seconds and also not included
Maybe were you talking about the RM010 when mentioning the rotor, because the 055 doesn't have one
But with the RM010 you're surely going toward an excellent purchase.
