I've owned quite a few RMs and still have more than one and I'm very happy with the watches and the service I've received.
Just because a few people has posted that they have problems with their watches, does not mean that ALL RMs are bad.
People just tend to post when they have a problem, when your watch is working fine, you don't complain on a online forum.
I know plenty of friends who own Richard Mille watches and never had a problem with them.

At the beginning , RM make the different design watch with different materials which are not common in horology at that time , beside that RM set the very high price for their watches , over than traditional brand . The high price reflect the cost of making ( because of using new material, design ) , but the most important of setting high price is marketing . they define their brand as the most expensie watch brand in the word, many customer and media get attention into brand because of price . RM is pionneer , and set the new trend in horology .
Now, many other company making the unique watches with many innovation without compromising in quality, finishing , high level skill of craftman-ship . Their watch are avant -garde in both term of design and movement , for example : De Bethune, Urwerk . With such new brand , people can compare them with RM easily . I think many collector prefer the new brand with innovative movement than RM . Many customer of RM are rich man, celebrities .
Design of RM is very good, eye catching, recognizable , easy to wear . I think if RM improve the quality, finishing , and making some specific innovation of its movement , RM would have the great future .
