Oh, so simple...

Our good friend flamenco started a thread on Friday's WristScan forum calling for shots of simple watches. It was a very refreshing theme and, from a personal perspective at least, one which resonated both deeply and wistfully. Visit the thread if you haven't already: thanks again, flamenco.

Of course, not all of us visit WristScan and not all of us post there. Accordingly, some great shots will not have been viewed by all and some great watches will not have made it to that thread. The idea of this post is to try and bring together as many of those 'simple' watches as are out there in our collections.

If you have a 'simple' watch - not necessarily just a two or three hander, but perhaps one with an uncomplicated display of the time - please post it here for all to share. Old or new, modern or vintage, on or off the wrist, mobile phone shot or catalogue quality: bring it on!

To add a bit of spice we may just have to ask someone to judge 'watch of the thread', 'shot of the thread' and 'funniest photo'.

support ! My collection have moved to mostly 3 hands over the years, and away from cluttered and busy dials. I can now appreciate the finer things ie  movements, and that has become the most impt criteria for a purchase these days.

...but there is no substitute for the original when it comes to 'form following function'. What a watch!  It is almost a sin not to have had one in the collection at some point.

The WG has a 'ruthenium' type dial which is simply impossible to capture:

this watch, of all watches, succumb to the current 'watch obesity' trend when JLC up-sized it.

Here's hoping it's only a trend, and JLC see the light and return to offering a more traditionally proportioned version in the future.

Thanks for sharing the pic.

Part of what I find appealing about mine is that is part of a history of making these slim and elegantly sized dress watches from JLC that extends over several decades.

It is easy to see the 'family resemblance' when you look at them.

Unfortunately it appears mine might be then last version of the model for now, as the current versions are just too big to really be part of the history. 

Just my opinion, anyway...
