Horological Meandering

I just wanted to start afresh with the details of the London GTG and to confirm the people that expressed interest from the other thread.

The potential dates are as follows:

Saturday 26th May

Thursday 31st May

Saturday 2nd June

Hopefully we can get a majority to pick the same day.  Please  either reply here with 'Yes' and your preferred date in the subject line or send me a PM and I will compile a list of people attending.

As for the format, as in the GTG of 2008 we will meet at 10:00-10:30 in a secure watch-related location where we can talk openly and view not only our own watches but also those from a great manufacture.  I am hoping to also get a presentation on some aspect of watchmaking but that is still to be decided.

We will then go to a restaurant for lunch between 12:30-14:30 where I hope to have a private area for us to continue our discussions over a nice reasonably priced lunch.  From there we will go to another watch location where there is a private studio area in which we can see some other rarer and interesting pieces from a variety of manufacturers. This will be from around 15:00-17:00.  Afterwards, happy to go for early evening drinks for those that may be staying in London or not in any rush to get home.

As before, once I can confirm enough attendance (and that this is therefore going ahead) I will provide details of the locations, nearby hotels (for those that require one) and the lunch venue by private mail.

I am hoping we can increase on the 27 attendees that we had at the last London GTG.  Of course, if we only get 5 or so then perhaps we will make this a lot more informal, but I am hoping that we can welcome PuristS from the UK, Europe and around the world in this year where London is hosting the greatest sporting show on earth.

There may be another five or six non-PuristS attendees, so currently we are at 18-19 which is great, but there is room for more

I could do the Thurs but the difference in price on the train for me is £20 on a Sat or £120-200 on a Thur due to the business travel during the week as I would have to get the peak time train.

I'm flying from the States to spend the month of June in London (for work).  I haven't actually booked my tickets yet but will be more likely to make the event if it is either May 31 or June 2.  I'm almost 100% sure that I can make the June 2 date (and if possible, I'd like to bring my husband).  Thanks for organizing this.  I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

and of course your husband will be very welcome. 

But if it is a week end: I may make it. Week day: I can't.

... I will be out of my job by then (it's a good thing - just take a break until the next position starts) and have plenty of time, supposedly.  I might visit - would need convenient hotel recommendation, though.

and I have five or six non-PuristS (but will become PuristS I'm sure) friends that would also attend (Mo definitely knows two of them).  Andrew and Mo, could you make the Saturday as I know your preferences were for the 31st?

Simon, I will try but that is the start of the schools half term holidays and not sure if we are planning to enjoy a break somewhere.  I should know in the next month or so if I will be around and will let you know.
