Hi Mox, dun feel that way. I myself feel stupid compared to many folks on the forum here.
Okie for Sinn's good stuff:
1) Underrated German watch maker but have innovative technologies ( Diapal, Humidity absorption Copper compound indicator, U2 watches uses submarine grade steel=> you can quite safely assume that it will dent your car doors and not the other way round=> tough watch)
you can go to watchbuys to check out the info. The german sinn website is not that friendly in my view.
2) Their designs are well.... depending on individual, nice. I like the U series and their PVD (Schwarz) esp 756 series too.
3) price: I know I may get flamed here but an IWC 3706 is like SGD 7000 appx=USD 4-5k but a similar one from sinn is less than half. I duno if you wanna pay that mark up for an IWC but if you're going for price for value, the sinn 103 is my choice.
4) Think in US if you buy from watchbuys, you can extend the warranty to 3 years.
5) As it is still underrated, there might be some collection value. Some of their watches uses Lemenia movements and it seems like they are getting rarer now.
6) Lastly, either you love it at first sight or hate it.
I love some of them at 1st sight.
Cheers!
Hi Andy, do you know the rough est price for the blackie? i haven't been to hour glass yet.
I am also looking at the the new U chrono but dunno how much.
shd be interesting times for Sinn Lovers and maybe a flux of sales for the olded U1 and U2 from owners.
cheers!
I have been looking at SINN for a while, and also visited Hour glass and tried on my wrist. However, none of them thrills me. I find their design are too bland for my likings, too many models with similar design.. Even U1, I wasn't too impressed other then is a good rugged and outdoor watch. While some may say IWC cost more with similiar movement but I still find IWC has more characters and as a watch manufacturer they have longer history and they make own great movements in some of their models eg. 5001.
Price wise is definitely very competitive and refeshing from the usual Tag, Omega, Oris etc. However, Sinn is not for me even if the price point is relatively affordable. I guess is just me, I would rather save to get something I really like even it cost more.
hi, in fact, i just started on sinn last yr
my opinion was that the watch is robust, simple yet sporty. in addition, the prices i felt are right, as most of the watches now are over priced.
in fact, with approx 100+ watches, my sinn EZM3 (w bracelet) has become my daily watch, and even my wife who fancies brands like Cartier, Corum, PAM, has also shown strong preference for SINN, esp the new HG SINN in Black PVD
Thats why, i have ordered 3, one for me, my wife and also my brother.
Just sharing my feel, with folks here...
Terence
