Horological Meandering

I met a group of watch enthusiasts last night and was able to handle a FXD. It dawned on me that the Tudor and my EZM1 are both watches with passionate followings, military provenance, titanium, and reverse bezel numbering. The EZM was a darling decades ago, but has the luster faded?

I became curious what one is more attractive today. Which would you rather have?

Sinn was one of the alternatives I looked at before I made Omega my go to brand. Their technology (especially the cases and dials) is cutting edge and I prefer their aesthetic. Also, SINN stands alone as I have always felt that Tudor stands along side of Rolex. There are a lot of brands that pretend to be (I won’t name them) what SINN actually is. I respect Tudor so it’s a close call but in the end (you knew this was coming) I ❤️ SINN😉

For my money it’s the FXD …

For me it is the FXD, which I am still sadly waiting on that call.  

I'm fortunate to be in the position where I don't have to choose. But, to be totally honest: I like wearing the Tudor more.

I’ve asked to be on my local AD waitlist, but they’ve only received 1 and there are several bigger fish in line ahead of me.
That said I took the Sinn to the event to have something old school not often seen now, and it’s re-sparked my affection.

As soon as it was announced, I was semi-frantically calling everyone I know who could help me get one. That's how excited I was for it! And it didn't seem like it was going to work. But I was visiting family in Ohio for Thanksgiving, and just for the heck of it, walked into a Tudor AD there to ask about it... and they had one, just sitting there, which they sold to me right away!
Five months later I'm still on the list for it at my local AD, haven't heard a peep from them.

I can imagine your excitement when you saw is sitting there waiting for you!

The countdown bezel and center minutes chrono was sooooo cool and useful, hands down the chrono I used most but today it would be the fxd for the comfort of titanium and lumed bezel. I was really hoping the EZM 1.1 was going to return in titanium instead of the dlc steel they released. My perfect EZM1.1 update would to have it in the EZM 9 ti case and lumed sapphire bezel....

I am lucky enough to have the re issue 1.1; but always liked the OG as I like Ti as a case material for its lightness and “tool ness” look.

What I do like the FXD for is the no date, integrated lugs and clean 3 hander. Never owned a Rolex or a Tudor.

From a complication perspective; there is no comparison and the 60 min central Chrono is incredible from a readability perspective.

I never handled the FXD but I imagine it’s thinner case would be more comfortable.

I don’t wear the sinn with bracelet as it becomes quite a heavy beast, your Ti is a different story.

I definitely have my eye on the FXD but haven’t tried to acquire (yet) but it sounds like it will require some Patience either way.

One interesting feature of the EZM1.1 that I might prefer of the Lemania 5100, is the instant switching of the chrono minute counter. I believe that may be even more legible than the gradual sweeping minute counter of my EZM1. I think yours looks great on the tropic strap. I may need to try that.

Works well because it highlights the nice facets of the lugs and like the olive color….

As you know, the OEM rubber is integrated with no gaps. Maybe I would like the OEM more if it was an olive color and had no branding?

The instant switching of the counter is nice.
