Horological Meandering

This is apparently the oldest known film on watchmaking, and it has been beautifully restored. It features Longines, much or all of it is pre-WWI, and thanks to "omg smstr" at the Omegforums for the heads-up!

Funny thing is, if you replace a few milling machines, lathes, etc. with CNC machines, things don't look fundamentally different today. Sure, manufactures are cleaner and more hi-tech, but it ultimately comes down to the human touch that brings these mechanical marvels to life.

When you think that all these knowledge and skills were close to disappear with quartz few decades ago. Fortunately not for us.
